My little brother, Evan, was married on Friday. He and his new wife, Jessica, have been dating for a few years now and decided to make it official. Jess has always felt like apart of our family so it's nice to say she finally is. They are so absolutely perfect for each other. And I couldn't be a prouder older sister. They are living only a mile down the road from us and I'm thrilled to have them so close.

About the pictures...a few on the top are from the family wedding dinner we had Thursday night, the night before the wedding. We all had a blast hanging out together. My siblings truly are so much fun. In fact, after the dinner was over, all of them (minus my sister) came over to our house and played games til about midnight. Such a great time!
The bottom half of the pictures are at the Salt Lake Temple. The clouds and rain disappeared just long enough to get some good pictures in. These are just a few I remembered to snap.

dessert plate

I saw the cutest idea at a boutique a few weeks ago and wanted to give it a try. They make awesome gifts, as I gave them to my mom and sister for Mother's day. And then I thought that I needed one too! So here's what I did.

I bought a glass candlestick holder...

and a cute plate...

glued them together with this glue...

let it sit like this for a few hours so that the glue would adhere...

and ended up with this gem!

So easy! And now when I have people over I have a cute plate to put cupcakes, cookies, fruit or whatever on to serve. Oh, and I found this stuff at Hobby Lobby but just about any craft store or even Target would have cute options.

P.S. the longer you let the glue sit the better.

women

(painting we had in my house growing up that resembles me and my sister)

"We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are."
Marjorie Hinckley

Amen to that.

something on the wall

I finally put a few decorations up. It's only been a month since we moved in...it's way overdue. I've been wanting to do something with mirrors for a while and this is what I was able to come up with. Some of the mirrors I already had and the rest I bought for less than $8 a piece. Not too shabby. Now to get to the other bare walls in the house...

(don't mind me)

Oh, and I made these tissue poms for the girl's room. I have a few more to bust out before I hang them up. They are so cute and easy to make...two of my favorite things!
